There is in fact no law about this. It depends on which leg has been operated on as the main issue is your reaction time should you need to perform an emergency stop. You should always check with your insurance company as some have stipulations but the advice from a medical perspective is that you can drive when you yourself feel safe to do and that you can perform an emergency stop in a timely manner as you would have done pre-operatively.
